Original engraving from Le Petit Atlas Maritime by Jaques Nicolas Bellin, 1764. This outstanding and uncommon map of St. Thomas is a slightly larger version and unique to this 1764 edition. Beautifully engraved, it shows the nearby islands, soundings, anchorages, navigational hazards, villages, and Ft. Christian. A handsome chart embellished with a compass rose with fleur-de-lis and rococo-style title cartouche.
Custom framed in a burl, fabric mat, wood frame and UV-resistant glass. Dimensions: 22 x 16 3/4”
