Kwanyin lamp which is made from Dehua Porcelain known in the west as Blanq de Chine, is a type of … Read more Kwanyin lamp which is made from Dehua Porcelain known in the west as Blanq de Chine, is a type of white Chinese porcelain, made at Dehua in the Fujian Province. It has been produced from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to the present day. The special characteristic of Dehua porcelain is the warm ivory color made by adding a small amount of iron oxide to the porcelain allowing it to be fired in an oxidising atmosphere to a warm white or pale ivory color. Also the detailed hair and the flowers at her feet is extraordinary. Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy was produced there. This Guanyin gives away her age because she has a small piece of kiln grit on her, which you find on old Chinese porcelain, because the kilns were wood fired. I love to find evidence of age on my porcelain. It’s exciting to know she is quite old. Then in the 1920’s she was turned into a lamp. She is very serene and calming. See less

No chips or damage on the lamp just some residue of the iron oxide or kiln grit in 2 small spots, from when it was made. Kiln grit tells you it's genuinely old. The lampshade has few little spots but overall good.
