Ms Delaunay co founded the Orphism art movement with her husband and others. This movement was known for bringing strong colors and geometric shapes to art. Sonia Delaunay was the first female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre in 1964.

This gouache and paper study for fabric design is in very good original condition with wear consistent with age and use. It is inscribed with the numbers 1196 on the reverse.
