American Art Deco style refrigerator pitcher with lid in delphinium blue produced by the Hall China Company for the mail order retail company Montgomery Ward & Co. around the 1930s.
Before plastic Tupperware became popular, and as refrigerators arrived to the American homes, Hall China Co. was producing refrigerator “leftover” dishes, water pitchers and butter containers in ceramic. The Ohio company developed a single fire production method which allowed for a faster process that also prevents crazing on the glaze. A stamp on the bottom reads: Made exclusively for Montgomery Ward & Co. by the Hall China Co. Made in the USA 5118.
