Rococo figurine in hard-paste porcelain, polychrome and glazed, entirely decorated by hand, depicting a girl in 18th-century clothing sitting at a table, base with pure gold trim, signed under the base with two crossed swords in blue underglaze by the German manufacturer Meissen. The sculpture dates back to the early 19th century, between 1800 and 1820. The artistic quality of the sculpture is high. Note the beauty of the meticulous decorations on the skirt, all executed with a brush tip, the beauty of the lace made by hand with a technique similar to the classic "pâte-sur-pâte" of the oldest Meissen porcelains, and the beauty of the handkerchief on the girl's head. The porcelain is very hard and compact, full and solid. Bear in mind that the sculpture is very heavy, even though it is not particularly large.
Useful information for evaluating the object:
Meissen is the oldest and most important German porcelain manufacturer and has the distinction of being the first European manufacturer to discover the formula for porcelain. A quick internet search shows that sculptures similar to ours are offered for sale at prices ranging from a minimum of €500-600 to a maximum of €1,200-1,300.
