The red base is a characteristic feature of the konbaung period, it is in tiers and symbolizes the different stages leading to awakening. The facial features as well as the hand touching the ground indicate the shan style while the treatment of his ushnisha already announces the mandalay style (1853-1948). This image should therefore be placed around 1820/1850. Provenance: estate of the collector and asian art dealer claude de marteau. Sold with certificate of provenance. H 51 cm x d 15 cm x w 33 cm.
