Drawing of a naked man in the academic hot seat 1910 France.
This young man poses in a relaxed manner, leaning on a harness. His raised foot rests on a bar of furniture.
The model's posture highlights her muscles and the movement of her body. A thin mustache and a side-parted hairstyle punctuate his profile. In teaching drawing according to French academic methods, the advanced artist practices drawing through the representation of a model posing nude. By metonymy, this type of drawing is called academy. Going deeper, the artist must know anatomy, to understand the movement of bones and muscles that give shape to what we see of the body; this is why nude drawing is also called “anatomy”.
The reference to Antiquity and the aesthetic valorization of Greek and Roman statuary also made nudity acceptable, even necessary, for mythological, allegorical or religious characters.
Note the remarkable beauty of the subject and the artist's execution make it a very decorative frame, modern and classic nonetheless. This academic design is an element that can be integrated into a classic or very modern interior by bringing a tasteful cultural touch.
