A portion of a large architectural structure in ruins fills the entire scene: a portico surmounted by a balustrade, overgrown with plants, surrounds a courtyard where various popular figures move, engaged in their activities. A bright blue sky surmounts the structure and light filters from one of the arches to create a play of light and shadow under the portico. On the back of the frame there is an attribution to Gaetano Vetturali (1701-1783), although the quality of the figures appears here superior to those of the artist from Lucca, who established himself in his territory for architectural whims of great scenographic impact. The painting is presented in a gilded frame in style. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
