The Staffordshire spaniel was the quintessential Victorian bourgeois status-symbol ornament, and no mantel was complete without a pair of spaniels standing guard.

These lovely porcelain spaniels are in excellent vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and signs of use, including light craquelure from age. There are a few minor areas where the glazing has been grazed (see last two photos). In the second to last photo, grazing appears on the spaniel's back, while the two smaller areas of grazing in the last photo are found on the front on the tail. Because the grazed areas appear only on the ivory glaze, these small imperfections are visible only upon very close inspection and do not detract from the overall look of these beautiful vintage pieces.
