A great and very unusual design, adorned with sculptural details and pointy finials creating a visually very interesting ‘throne’ like appearance. They are very distinct and have beautiful details all over. It is safe to say that these are not your average chairs! the solid oak used for the frame wonderfully combines with the upholstery in blue velvet - a later addition since they were originally upholstered in dark leather. Interestingly these chairs also come with the original ‘joining’ addition in solid oak and wrought iron - which gives you the opportunity to create a very cosy settee. These chairs were purchased in 1966 and come straight from their first owner. They are in a good vintage condition with some wear due to age and use. Sprij meubelen abraham sprij started his workshop in 1932 in vlaardingen, the netherlands. Having considerable succes with his ‘stijlmeubelen’ in solid oak, he later also opened a factory in klundert. Sprij meubelen was one of the earliest makers of furniture in solid oak, being a forerunner and visionary in creating a versatile and distinct range of high quality oak furniture in different styles - like guillerme et chambron (votre maison) did in france about ornamentum ornamentum - where we find perfection in imperfection, love a good patina and are always on the lookout for wonderful and unique pieces both vintage and antique. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
