This rare hand-tinted etched illustration from a French botany collection of mycology is nothing short of extraordinary. This print is of the L'Argaric Laineux, a species of mushroom. Agaric is a relation of the regular mushroom, but its tops are convex (or sometimes flat) with the gills on underside of cap. Laineux translates into English as 'fleecy', and connotes not just the title of what this mushroom is called but also its fuzzy exterior texture.
Etched illustration was matched and inserted into an equally beautiful antique Arts & Crafts style frame, which shows its age with some minor scuff marks in some places (as seen in photos) which only enhances the overall aesthetic of this piece of art. Glass is not museum quality/glare resistant, so it is highly recommended to *not* hang/display in direct sunlight.
