Legacy: In 1976 The Huntington Hotel's Big 4 restaurant opened, and celebrated a golden era of opulence. Since the 1950s, the hotel and restaurant (H&R) were known for rich interiors appointed by interior design legend Anthony Hail (1925-2006). During its midcentury era, movie stars, European royalty were no strangers. The H&R appeared a seamless venue where celebrities were seen, and regular San Franciscans rubbed elbows with Nob Hill socialites. Notably, behind the Big 4's monumental doors lies an impressive collection of original Big Four themed artifacts, inspire historical and local intrigue. In early 2020, the H&R closed due pandemic era setbacks. The property is slated to reopen early 2026.
Use: Pocket door panel or custom window to pantry, kitchen or wine cellar, dining room...in the meantime, magnificent wall art until more creative ideas prevail.
