This is piece is composed of subdued fall tones - tan, pale green, and coppery reds. A blue stream cuts through the landscape and meanders into the the distance, dividing up the composition in both color and layout. In the distance, a purple mountain fades into the background before giving way to an overcast sky. The trees and foliage are expertly rendered - layers of watercolor create a sense of volume and depth.
