The book of drawings and sketches by Matisse is the first volume in the " Dessins Des Grandes Maitres ( Drawings of The Great Masters ) Series. Edited and accompanied with an introduction essay in French language text by Maurice Malingue. Printed in France on October 12th, 1949, on the presses of L'Imprimerie Jemmapes, Paris. It features a monograph collection of the drawings artworks of the artist Henri Matisse.

Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art.
