A early model desk lamp designed by Louis Kalff for Phillips, The Netherlands in the 1950s. This classic piece has a pierced edge shade in original dark green and a chrome stem finishing on a domed circular base. Stamped with Philips logo at the base. Some small signs of use due to age and use.
This specific model is called Major. It was replaced sometime during the 70's by what would become the next icon for Louis Kalff: model Timor. The lamp shade also has the narrow slits that create a wonderful effect when the lamp is lit in a dim room. This piece has an attribution mark,
