This trio of Zuni-style animal fetishes—a bear, a panther, and an eagle—beautifully embodies the artistry and spiritual symbolism found in Native American carving traditions.
In Zuni culture, the bear is revered as a symbol of strength and healing, a grounding force that offers protection and renewal. The panther, sleek and elusive, represents power, instinct, and fierce guardianship. Most sacred of all, the eagle—the only carving in this group marked “Zuni”—is one of the most venerated creatures in Zuni belief. It represents strength, power, vision, and a profound spiritual connection to the divine, often seen as a messenger carrying prayers to the heavens.
Each figure is hand-carved from natural stone and features traditional offering bundles, underscoring the Zuni people's deep respect for animal spirits and their enduring connection to the natural world.
Please note: only the eagle fetish is specifically marked “Zuni.” The bear and panther are sold “in the style of” as their exact origin or maker cannot be confirmed.
