The … Read more A charming mid-century Japanese porcelain serving dish with an unusually pretty combination of soft ivory, pale turquoise and gold. The elongated, gently curved form is framed by a turquoise border of tiny flowers, foliage and yellow fruit, finished with gold edging and dramatic twisted gilded handles at either end.

The shape gives this piece much of its appeal: somewhere between a relish dish, small serving bowl and decorative console piece, with raised ends and sculptural handles that make it especially attractive displayed even when not in use. The pastel botanical decoration feels fresh again for grandmillennial, traditional and Palm Beach-inspired interiors.

Marked JAPAN on the underside. Based on its decoration, form and country-of-origin mark, it appears to date to the mid-20th century, likely circa 1960s–1970s.

Measures approximately 9.5” long, 4.5” wide, and 2.25” high.

In very good vintage condition with minor discoloration consistent with age and some wear to the gilding, particularly at the handles. No chips or cracks are apparent in the provided photographs. Please review photos for details. See less
