Signed in lower right corner. Wood frame with rounded bevel; layered beige and dark gray mat.

"Velma Agnes Grimsley Flatt was born Dec. 12, 1928, to the late Morrison Lee and Ova Leah Whiteaker Grimsley. Mrs. Flatt was a Tennessee Tech alumnus and a school teacher for 30 years in Putnam County at Poplar Grove, Algood and Park View Schools. She was active in many clubs and organizations and a member of Summerfield Methodist Church for 47 years. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher's Sorority, Putnam County Retired Teacher's Association, Cumberland Art Society, Home Demonstration Club, Putnam County Senior Citizens, Upper Cumberland Horseback Riders' Association and Gideons International Auxiliary. Her family includes her husband of 54 years, Hollie B. Flatt; a daughter, Sharon Flatt Barnard of Cookeville; a son, Victor Byers Flatt of Houston, Texas; a sister, Dorothy Jones of Cookeville; and four grandchildren, Holly Leigh Barnard of Nashville, Vaughn Noel III and Grayson Lee Barnard, both of Knoxville, and Oscar Victor Deppen Ertman of Washington D.C.
