A set of three exquisite antique textile fragments from China, circa 18-19th century Qing dynasty, professionally displayed in matching giltwood … Read more A set of three exquisite antique textile fragments from China, circa 18-19th century Qing dynasty, professionally displayed in matching giltwood frames as a triptych. Originally they adorned the “patch work" robe, worn by actors for opera performance. Satin, couching and forbidden stitches were used to create the floral design with auspicious symbols. The gilt frames are identical in size; The colors of the mats were designed to complement each embroideries which vary slightly in sizes themselves, but together they hang beautifully together as a group. The hues on these on these are sublime and the way they each play off one another evokes a rare elegance so calming to the eye.
