A rare and remarkable authentic nearly 300 year old early French Gothic hand carved oak tabouret (today use as a stool, end table or plant stand)
Crafted in France in the 17th/18th century or earlier, exceptionally rare, not to be confused with the far more common 19th century Victorian Gothic Revival and later Revivalist reproductions, what sets this striking museum quality example apart and makes it a true scarcity is that it's far older than 99% of Gothic furniture on the market, much closer to the original medieval era origins and one of a limited number of surviving examples.
Rustic handmade craftsmanship and primitive hand carved old world European solid oak construction, having a square seat, hand forged iron nailheads with cross motif, the paneled base with architectural cathedral influenced pierced trefoil and tracery motifs, enhanced by nicely aged heavily worn patina over the whole.
