Entirely hand-decorated with a central medieval coat of arms on a white background. In the Neo-Renaissance style, made and signed beneath the base by one of the Blue Delft workshops, with a catalogue number and the inscription ‘Delft SCR’. The jug dates from around the late 19th century. The decorations are entirely hand-painted. The handle is entirely hand-modelled, consisting of a double twisted ceramic cord. The shape of the jug echoes the style of 17th-century jugs; this explains the decoration featuring a coat of arms and the Latin inscription ‘Petala Rose’, indicating that the jug was intended to hold water infused with rose petals.
