Made with wool on a wool foundation, this kilim measures 5'8" x 7'6" and belongs to the category of Kilims & Flat Weaves, which are rugs that do not have a pile. These rugs are produced by tightly interweaving the warp and weft strands and creating a flat surface. Commonly woven on horizontal looms, kilims feature crisp geometric designs. They are typically lighter in weight and feel softer to the touch compared to traditional pile rugs. As such, they were often used as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, table covers, wall hangings, and even as tapestries and insulation against extreme cold temperatures.
