The artist is Jo Nelson, an … Read more Vintage Home is pleased to present this stunning vintage Shadowbox Assemblage entitled “Queen’s Shoe”. The artist is Jo Nelson, an American artist born in 1938. Nelson has lived in Palm Beach, Italy and New York and her Assemblage fine art has been shown in galleries worldwide. Her compositions are 3-Dimensional Assemblage under glass. They are Asian Chinoiserie motifs and usually include a Chinese coin, a Mahjong Tile and Counting Stick and a fish bone vertebra that represents Good Luck and Good Fortune in the Chinese culture. This one also features a carved Geshia girl, a hand carved wooden fan, a bone medicine jar, two carved wooden antique paper clips and vintage and antique fabric and trim with split bamboo sticks. All that is assembled around a fabulous 1600s antique orange Chinese Shoe. The shoe has been split so it can be mounted as a shelf for other elements. The Assemblage is presented in a thick Walnut Shadowbox frame behind glass and signed on a bamboo stick by Nelson. Please note, there are some light reflections on the glass and the wood frame is more dark brown. Overall the glass on the shadowbox make the interior composition items appear more faded from the reflection of the glass, so the assemblage is more vibrant in person. Photography is difficult on these because of the depth of the shadowbox and glass. The colors of the close-up photos are more true. JBN
