Leeds Pottery (English, founded 1756), 19th/20th century. A covered creamware chestnut basket bowl with cover. Bowl and cover are globular in shape with pierced bands and devices. Bowl has a scalloped edge and two handles composed of intertwined stems with flowers and foliage at the points of attachment. The dome shape lid is surmounted with knob in the form of a fir-cone. Bottom of chestnut bowl has impressed "LEEDS POTTERY MADE IN ENGLAND" mark. Approximate height of basket 10.62", width 12.25".
Background: The Chestnut Basket & Stand, circa 1790, can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum located in London, England. Museum number:3549 to B-1901. Gallery location: Ceramics Study Galleries, Britain, room 138, case 10, shelf 3. _x000D_
