Grand tour Italian carved marble lion, c.1870
A majestic carved lion out of one piece of marble, ready to pounce and growling. For Italians, lions represented strength and prestige. Well carved detail to both the lion and the base. Note the glass eyes. Good antique condition with age wear, scratches and minor small chips. Felt has been added to the base to prevent scratching.
