An exceptionally carved mahogany partners desk by R.J. Horner & Co, circa 1900s. Drawing inspiration from Victorian & Italian Baroque Styling. Features a serpentine form with carved table border surmounting a central frieze drawer flanked by two fitted right side drawers on each side that run the full depth of the desk, and faux drawers on each left side. Drawer surfaces, side and aprons are all perfectly carved with raised scrollwork, foliate, scalloped and acanthus detail. The desk is supported by the four corner iconic winged griffins on a shaped medial stretcher with egg and dart carved border over four square carved feet. The perfect statement for any library, study or office.
