Here we have an antique rustic pine tilt top dining table, circa 1800s. I sometimes see this style referred to as a tavern table. So much wonderful old authentic patina with tons of character. The table is extremely versatile and fully functional. The top can flip up in either direction revealing a bench with storage beneath. It would make a fabulous kitchen island work table and a great space saver for smaller homes. The top looks very shiny in my pics because I just wiped it down, it's not that shiny in person.
Constructed of good solid mostly clear pine (very few knots) which is almost a full inch thick. Plenty of surface wear, stains, scratches, dents, dings and age cracks. One corner of the work surface is dished out from many many decades of wear. There's a row of indentations along the underside, probably from clamping a meat grinder or other kitchen tools. Two pegs match and appear to be original while the other two pegs seem to be old replacements.
The interior width of the seat is 33.875 inches wide and 17.5 inches deep. The seat height is 17 inches. This table is structurally sound, stable and ready for many more decades of service. Please examine photos and feel free to ask questions...thanks for looking!!!
