This table lamp by Gioffredo Reggiani is also known as „Cobra“ lamp because - depending on the positon - it reminds of a cobra snake. Its form is typical for the space age design in Italy, characterised by simple lines and a fun space-age feel.

Not much information is available on the biography of the Italian lighting designer Gioffredo Reggiani, but it is possible to assert he was active from the 1950's to the 1970's.
He founded his namesake lighting company in Brianza, Italy. In his products, Reggiani mainly used chrome, opal glass and teak to create Space Age designs, such as Sputnik style chandeliers, spherical table lamps, and floor lamps with trumpet-shaped or organ-shaped diffusers. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
