The gate frame allows for better access to the inside of the bag.

From this frame, fine hand-pleated snakeskin flows to form a softened and slightly rounded-at-the-corners bag.

The pleating and gathering of the snakeskin, as in this bag, is a major Leiber innovation. Normally, skin bags have the skins presented as flat and straight materials. A soft, round and mellowed feeling is achieved in this bag by gently hand-pleating the skins. Other designers will machine-pleat skins making them bunch and hard. The shirring is done by hand resulting in soft leather and in concert with the shape.
