This rare coffer, purchased in France, features classic mortise and tenon joinery and beautifully aged patina that only centuries of history can produce. Original iron lockplate remains intact (hinges appear to have been replaced at some point), enhancing the authenticity of this rural French piece.

Its generous size and subtly chamfered lid make it both functional and sculptural—ideal at the foot of a bed, in a grand entry. The surface bears the hallmarks of hand craftsmanship with tool marks, deep grain, and a mellow, undisturbed finish. See less
