This set of 3 geometrical sculptures … Read more Very nice set of 3 iron sculptures designed by Theo Niermeijer (1940-2005) Amsterdam, 1970. This set of 3 geometrical sculptures are made or welded iron parts and the small sculptures were mostly studies or try outs as Niermeijer was constantly trying to improve his way of welding, as it doesn’t seem like it he was a perfectionist. All his work is unique, he made his sculptures of metal waste, mostly. Especially in the beginning he was really searching for a style. Niermeijer was an energetic man and an avid traveler. He followed various artists’ trainings in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Warsaw and traveled through North Africa, Iceland, the United States and the Middle and Far East. In particular influences of the Far East are visible in Niermeijers work. Very nice set made in the 1970s in geometrical shapes. Look great as a set and it’s hard to find nice work from Niermeijer these days. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
