About the Artist:
Trafford Partridge Klots (American, 1913–1976) was the son of noted portrait painter Alfred Partridge Klots and Agnes Boon Klots. Raised between America and Europe, Trafford spent much of his life in Rochefort-en-Terre, Brittany, where his family established an important artist colony. He studied at the British Academy in Rome and later at the Shaw School in London.

Following the death of his father in 1938, Trafford continued cultivating the artistic community at Rochefort-en-Terre. After World War II, he and his wife Isabel restored the family château, which later became the foundation for the Alfred & Trafford Klots International Program administered through the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). His work remains associated with American Impressionism, European coastal landscapes, and the rich artistic legacy of Brittany. See less
