The "Ragno" side table is one of the best-known designs by the Italian architect and designer Carlo de Carli (1910 … Read more The "Ragno" side table is one of the best-known designs by the Italian architect and designer Carlo de Carli (1910 - 1999). In the early 1930s, De Carli studied architecture and design at Milan's Politecnico and later worked closely with Gio Ponti. The collaboration shaped Carlo de Carli's views and approach and he subsequently founded his own studio in Milan. His keen sense of modern materials and willingness to experiment shaped Carlo De Carli's contribution to post-war architecture and design. His designs were manufactured by well-known manufacturers such as Cassina. The "Ragno" table (Ragno, Italian for the spider) from 1950 was produced by various manufacturers. An exact assignment is therefore uncertain. The frame made of solid walnut wood is in perfect original condition. Only one arm is missing a small piece of the tip at the front. However, this is hardly noticeable and has no influence on the glass plate lying securely and firmly on the frame. The glass plate was completely remade and shows no signs of wear. Diameter 72cm.
