As a widely collected and prolific artist, John M. Carnright (1945-2023) was a part of the Beat Movement and was admired for his cutting edge theory of Primitive-Futurism, a philosophy and aesthetic interrelated to Evolutionary Psychology, as a developing movement in the art world. which was based on the idea that the human mind is a collection of adaptations that evolved to help our ancestors survive and reproduce. This theory is quite clear in the eclectic ways Carnright expressed himself in his work. He was an important part of the Los Angeles Art Movement in the late 70’s and early 80’s, then traveled throughout Europe on an artist residency, living in Hungary, East & West Germany, France and Austria, where he was highly regarded.
Any discerning art collector will appreciate Carnright’s work as thought-provoking and intellectual, and truly a gift to the fine art industry.
