A pair of blue lacquer inlaid Chinese characters "Da Ji" Bogu pattern gourd-shaped wall screen
This screen with the Chinese character "Da Ji" inlaid is large in size and gourd-shaped, named after the word "Ji". The image of the ourd was very popular in the court art of the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty in China. The gourd shape resembles the word "Ji", also known as "Da Ji", because mature gourds often contain gourd seeds, plus the inlaid elephants, treasure bottles, and bats, all of which symbolize happiness, evergreen career, good luck, peace,e, and good fortune. In the past, Emperor Qianlong of China liked this wall screen very much, and he had a pair of wall screens that were almost the same as this pair.
The outer edge of the frame is carved into a Da Ji shape with mahogany, the whole circle of the frame is carved with rosewood leaf patterns as decoration, and the entire waist of the gourd is decorated with golden ribbons. The whole wall screen has a light and elegant style and a good decorative effect. It is suitable for study rooms, living rooms, entrances, etc.
