Slightly dark overall from age though the image pops when lit properly. The canvas is slightly slack allowing the stretcher impressions to be visible, see photos. Two abrasions in the surface of the canvas, see last 2 photos. The canvas could benefit from a visit to a professional art conservator but it is not necessary to enjoy the painting. The contemporary wood frame fits the canvas beautifully, securing the 100+ year old canvas, and accents the painting in the best possible way. less
