Incredible polished brass Thetis Mirror designed by Jean-Louis Deniot for legendary French metalwork house Pouenat. The mirror is beveled and heptagonal in shape--it truly glows in-person. In the words of Pouenat, "Thetis embodies the stone of our dreams." It can either rest on a surface on its flat edge with its point facing straight upward, or it can be hung askew on a wall--both options are shown in the listing photographs. The piece is quite heavy--120 lbs.
Handmade in France. Originally purchased from Holly Hunt for $9,500.
The Pouenat studios were established in Moulins, Allier in 1880. With a team of 25 skilled craftsmen and collaborators still working in Moulins, Pouenat is one of the few artistic producers remaining in the tradition of metal craft. Their pieces can be found in homes as well as hotels and high-fashion retail including the Balmain and Dior boutiques in Paris. Pouenat artisans have even restored the balustrades of the chateau of Versailles and other iconic monuments.
