This silverplate cup was made by Charles Halphen based in Paris who had a partnership with Christofle, between the years of 1877 and 1885. The mark ALFE NIDE refers to the rare nickel and silver alloy that was then electroplated with silver. The number refers to the amount of silver applied. These were considered premium wares at the time when silver plate and sterling were becoming very popular with the masses. Detailed floral and ribbon band with the inscription "Joseph a Francoise".
