Mademoiselle easy chair designed by renowned Finnish architect Ilmari Tapiovaara for Edsbyverken, Sweden, 1956. This striking piece features solid beech dowels and a contoured plywood seat. Retains its original off-white finish with a beautifully aged patina that adds character and authenticity. Marked with the manufacturer’s stamp beneath the seat, highlighting its provenance. A stunning example of Scandinavian mid-century design. In 1955, Finnish architect Ilmari Tapiovaara was commissioned by Swedish manufacturer Edsbyverken to refine and redesign the Fanette dowel chair, initially created by Lennart Karlstorp. Tapiovaara's update featured a refined dowel back and a generously wide seat, resulting in the now-iconic Fanette 55T. Building on this success, he introduced the complementary Mademoiselle lounge chair the following year. Distinguished by its high backrest and low seat height, this piece exemplifies Tapiovaara's innovative approach to ergonomic and aesthetic design. Later, both models were produced by Finnish company Asko, which introduced a solid seat version, diverging from the original plywood construction. This piece has an attribution mark,
