The Pulegoso finish is made using traditional techniques, expertly executed to high standards. This ancient method involves adding copper particles to the glass, giving rise to the characteristic bubbles of Pulegoso glass. The term "Pulegoso" derives from the Venetian word "pulega", which means bubble. Copper also gives the vase a characteristic purple hue. Furthermore, a pattern of larger and more regular bubbles is imprinted inside the vase with the Balloton technique, creating a Bulicante effect. This adds an intriguing and unique play of transparent bubbles to the piece. While it seems likely that this vase was originally designed as a luxury ice bucket, given its massive size and similarity to other pieces in the collection, its use is versatile.
