This painting, combining a figurative seascape with abstract elements, takes place in the middle of an infinite sea with isolated rocks emerging from the waves, as a metaphor of conscious thoughts emerging from the abyss of our minds. The rocks and the sea are immobile and inscrutable in their eternal wisdom, as opposed to men and their legerdemains. The setting, the even lighting, and the permeating sensation of aloofness recall René Magritte's artistic style. Hand-signed and dated on the lower right. Perfect conditions.
