This painting, combining a figurative landscape with abstract elements, takes place in the middle of a dark forest, where, by means of only a few wise brushstrokes, we can get a glimpse of its night life and atmosphere. The title refers to the meaning of things in life: before, they were part of the nature world, and we could comprehend them up until man destroyed everything with his cruelty. It feels like both the fauna and the flora are up to something that only they can comprehend, whilst we are mere watchers of the scene. Even though we may perceive the flow of such noctural energies deep inside, we can never get a hold of them. Hand-signed and dated on the lower right. Perfect conditions.
