Marietta The Gem City Of Georgia by Douglas Frey with photography by Jim DiVitale is a beautifully published coffee table book depicting the residential Southern architecture of an iconic city just north of Atlanta. The author is an architectural historian with an obvious passion for his subject as well as a gift for story telling. He expertly compiles the history of 50 residences through three distinct architectural periods including Antebellum (1838-1851), Victorian (1867-1895) and Revival (1899-1949). The photography is outstanding and the mix of Mr. DiVitale's images with black and white portraits from the past really brings life to the history of this community. Published in 2010 by Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society, hardbound with linen cover and paper dust jacket, 431 pages. A must read for those interested in good ole home grown American architecture.
The book is in very good condition except for tape marks on the first black page beyond the cover as shown in photograph 12.
Measures 10" wide x 12" tall x 2" deep.
