Figureheads graced the early seafaring ships in many forms and this one belongs to the Benmore, a British merchant ship that was the first fully-rigged ship, launched in 1870. It concluded service in 1924. This fabulous figurehead was sold in limited additions of 950 and this one is No. 417, originally designed by S. Keenan. The backstamp reads: Royal Doulton Tableware Ltd. 1980. HN 2909. Figureheads Benmore, Full Rigged Ship 1870-1924. In a limited addition of 950. No. 417. Signed with initials JP. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Height from top to bottom=8-1/4 inches, Width=3-1/2 inches, Depth front to back=4-1/4 inches. This marvelous Royal Doulton figurehead has been well cared for, gently displayed and is in excellent vintage condition, free from chips, cracks or other imperfections. The presentation box and pedestal are also in excellent condition. It is the perfect addition to your maritime collection, particularly if you admire figureheads. See less
