Signed and dated "'62 Katt" in the lower right corner, this piece beautifully documents a serene rural scene featuring a traditional homestead or watermill nestled beside a winding country stream and framed by stylized, dense woodland trees.
Originating from Northern Kentucky, the artwork reflects the rich landscape painting traditions of the Greater Cincinnati and Ohio River Valley regional art guilds active during the mid-20th century. Executed with a masterful combination of fluid, transparent color washes and rich dry-brush texturing on the foliage, this piece is an excellent representation of mid-century watercolor technique.
The painting comes beautifully double-matted in an era-appropriate, rustic ceruse pink-toned wooden frame that accentuates the earth tones of the landscape. A perfect addition to an Art Deco, Cottagecore, or Mid-Century Modern gallery wall. See less
