Historical outline:

Volkseigene Betrieb (VEB) Mechanische Spielwaren Brandenburg (MSB) was established in 1956 as a result of the merger of several nationalized plants, such as Blechspielzeug Patentwerk Ernst Paul Lehmann (EPL), Lineol AG Oskar Wiederholz, Vereinigte Blechspielwarenfabrik Gundka GmbH and others. In the early 1980s, as part of the creation of the state-owned plant, MSB was incorporated into VEB Kombinat Spielwaren Sonneberg. However, attempts by Brandenburger Spielwaren GmbH to resume production after the fall of the DDR regime were not successful. In 1992, production ended, ending a 100-year tradition of toy production in Brandenburg an der Havel. The former factory and the famous Art Nouveau villa of the company's founder, Ernst Paul Lehmann, have now become the seat of the municipal authorities of Brandenburg an der Havel. Today, only the Brandenburger Stadtmuseum reminds us of the once world-famous Brandenburg toy industry. See less
