Charming antique French Country Provincial hand painted faience clay bowl set from Henriot Quimper. This petite round faience lug bowl set features two men dressed in 'Breton' fashion. The well-loved patina of these pieces add a dimension of character not available in newly produced bowls. Decorated with dark cobalt blue handles and bands, red and blue flowers and greenery alongside figures of a man and woman and set against a soft off-white ground.
Founded in France in 1685, Henriot Quimper is known the world over for its know-how of the “Quimper Paint Touch” and the tradition of producing and hand-painting every piece of faience in-house. The company is still in operation today.
In fair condition considering age and history. Zoom in on photos to see any imperfections including some age appropriate spots of glaze wear and/or chips around the rim, outside, and handle edges. Personally, I love the look of wear on these pieces which speaks to their authenticity and age.
Each bowl measures 5.5" x 4" x 2".
