Superb vintage elegant large solid Huanghuali & ZItan wood altar table with amazing open work carving ,and rounded edges ,stand on four carved legs The Chinese term Huanghuali literally means "yellow flowering pear" wood. It is a member of the rosewood family and is botanically classified as Dalbergia odorifera.
The finest huanghuali has a translucent shimmering surface with abstractly figured patterns that delight the eye those appearing like ghost faces were highly prized.
Zitan is an extremely dense wood which sinks in water. It is a member of the rosewood family and is botanically classified in the Pterocarpus genus.
