This complex and unusual rosewood inlaid card table is of the late neoclassical period circa 1820 to 1830s. The top unfolds and turns to be supported by the pedestal base resting on brass castors. The folding top is banded with a wide edge of brass inlay done in foliate and tendril forms below a similar central panel that is flanked by two line inlaid panels within scroll terminals. Below, the arch supports to each side sit on a rectangular base with incurvate sides again repeating the rich brass inlays. Brass line inlays continue overall . Within is the surface for a card playing, which is done in a green felt just refreshed. Numerous minor repairs to inlay.
Height 28 1/2 inches, depth, 17 1/2 inches, with 35 1/4 inches. The open top measures 34 and three-quarter inches by 35 1/4 inches.
