Absolutely delicious Satsuma porcelain vase, made at the end of the 19th century, around 1880. It rests on a base of ormolu, and is also crowned by a rim of the same material.
It features plant decorations of chrysanthemum flowers, and a procession of noble men dressed in richly printed suits. These characters are in an open room with large windows overlooking a typical Japanese landscape towards the mountains. Both in the mouth and at the base of the piece we find decorative friezes in brilliant hues thanks to the golden enamel. See less
